What is a communication strategy?

A communication strategy is a plan for how a company should communicate a message. The communication strategy covers:

  • What should be communicated
  • Who the target audience is
  • How the message should be communicated
  • Which channels should be used
  • What the goal of the communication is

What is strategic communication?

Strategic communication is what a communication strategy is all about. Let’s look at an example: instead of a company posting random content on its channels, there is a well-thought-out strategy behind every post they publish. The different posts – and especially the choice of content type – are published at a predetermined time on a predetermined channel. This approach to communication takes into account both internal and external factors that can impact the company’s objectives and growth.
