What is Bing?

Microsoft Bing, better known simply as Bing, is a search engine owned and operated by the technology company Microsoft. The service was launched in 2009 and is based on Microsoft’s previous search engines MSN Search and Windows Live Search (later known simply as Live Search). Bing is the world’s second most used search engine.

What services does Bing offer?

Similar to Google, Bing offers search for information, images, video, and maps. What sets Bing apart from Google, however, is its partnership with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. This means that the new version of Bing will be powered by AI.

The collaboration means that Bing now has an AI chatbot (similar to ChatGPT) integrated into the search engine, allowing you to ask and get answers to more complex questions. OpenAI will also help Bing deliver better and more relevant search results.

The new version of Bing is still in beta, so you need to join the waitlist to get access. It’s worth mentioning that Google also offers an AI chatbot (Bard), but this is not integrated with Google’s search engine. Bard is also in beta and only available via the waitlist for users in the US and the UK.

Summary

Bing is a search engine from Microsoft that offers online search services for information, images, video, and maps. The new version of Bing currently in development is being built in collaboration with OpenAI, which means the search engine will be powered by AI.
